Hello! I'm Christi Long and I started PET PAL in 1996. I was the ONLY pet sitter for my company for 10 years. I was convinced that no one else could do the job to my liking (I'm VERY particular about the way I want things done). And the thought of hiring total strangers was too stressful for me...after all, it is a huge reponsibility to hand over house keys and alarm codes and put someone in charge of precious loved ones!

Joni Garrett

Then, in 2006, my dear friend (who I trust with my life), Joni Garrett, wanted to pet sit for me so I could take an occasional day off. I knew I could trust Joni to do a great job (even with my high standards) so I decided to take her up on it.

She did such a FANTASTIC job and loved pet sitting SO MUCH that she became an official pet sitter for PET PAL! And I feel so lucky to have her! She is such a delight, extremely dependable and a caring, concerned animal lover. She is a wonderful pet sitter and pet owner and just LOVES dachshunds (she has two)!  Pets and people alike love Joni! Jenna Eakes

Because I take great pride in always being available to my clients, I decided to think about having a third person as a back up and I was fortunate once again to have someone that I know and trust, Jenna Eakes (my former neighbor who previously took wonderful care of my own pets) to help out on occasion. Jenna is a college student at Christian Brothers University and is as sweet and dependable as they come. And she just LOVES animals!  Our clients and their pets love Jenna! 

Shannon Crafton

PET PAL continues to grow, thanks to all the referrals from our wonderful clients, so when one of my clients with extensive pet care experience and knowledge expressed interest in pet sitting herself, I was absolutely delighted and welcomed her aboard!

Shannon relocated to Memphis in 2009 due to her husband's job transfer and she contacted us to care for her pets.  After I learned her background, I was extremely honored that she chose PET PAL!  Shannon was the Executive Director at Good Mews Cat Rescue in Atlanta for almost 5 years and is currently a Clinic Assistant at the Spay and Neuter Services Clinic of Memphis.   She is such an asset and I am thrilled to have Shannon! And our clients are equally thrilled as they ALL love her!



Leisa Johnston

One of our newest "Pals" is Leisa Johnston who joined us in 2010 and we are so happy to have Leisa on board!  Leisa is a Harbor Town resident and will be covering the Downtown area.  We are SO happy to be back Downtown, thanks to Leisa!

I met Leisa a couple of years back through one of my best clients because she had expressed an interest in pet sitting because of her life long love for animals.  My client asked if I would give her some tips on how to get started and after meeting her and seeing her sincere love and concern for animals, I just knew she had to be on the Pet Pal team. I could NOT let her get away!  And lucky for me, she said yes!  

I can't say enough nice things about Leisa - and neither can our clients!  She gets rave reviews from our furry clients and their owners and once you meet her, you will know why!

Melissa "Missi" Widmer

I have known Missi and her family since I was in the 5th grade...talk about going WAY back!  Missi has been a lifelong animal lover and has had a "zoo" at her house for as long as I have known her.  Missi has a true passion for animals and animal welfare and she volunteers at the Germantown Animal Shelter 3 days a week.  She is continually doing all she can to help find all the homeless pets who cross her path a loving forever home.  So needless to say, I was beyond thrilled when she expressed an interest in pet sitting! 

Her daughter Mikaela inherited this same great love and very often accompanies Missi for her dog walks and kitty visits.  So your fur babies will get DOUBLE the love when Missi and Mikaela come! Missi gets RAVE reviews from our clients! You will feel very confident knowing your pets are in her hands.

Missi has extensive experience with birds, fish, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs and of course dogs and cats. She currently has 23 pets of her own (from all of these categories). So, Missi can handle just about any pet you may possibly have!

Lisa Posey Basinger

Lisa joined us in August 2011 after we reconnected on Facebook after many years and bonded over our love for animals. We discovered that we will both stop traffic and risk our lives on Germantown Parkway to get a turtle out of the road! Lisa is a lifelong animal lover and has owned many over the years and currently has two rescued pit bulls. She has a heart of gold when it comes to animals and anyone should know that their pets will receive the utmost love and care while Lisa is looking after them! We are so glad to have her and know your pets will love her, too!

One thing I want my clients (and future clients) to know is that I will never, EVER send a stranger to your home. My sitters are people I know and trust and it will always be that way.   I feel incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful team of caring animals lovers that I trust so completely.

We offer top quality service and try to keep our rates as low as we possibly can. Please contact us for a rate estimate as it will vary depending on location and the particular needs of your pet(s).  We do offer competetive rates and never want to lose our clients because of price.  If you can find the same quality service from another professional pet sitter who has been in business for as long as we have for a lower rate please bring this to our attention and we will do our best to meet or beat their rate. Please see our FAQ for more info on rates.

We provide limited service to certain areas such as Eads, Oakland, Ellendale, Arlington and Lakeland, TN.  Limited service to certain areas of East Memphis and Midtown also (please contact us for details).
